JES RELEASES “AWAKEN,” THE THIRD SINGLE FROM HER HIT ALBUM ‘HIGH GLOW’
As JES embarks on an explosive new year, the artist releases “Awaken,” the third single from her album, High Glow, which entered the Billboard Electronic Albums Chart in 2010. The video for the guitar driven and rhythmic life-affirming song was directed partially underwater and across desert landscapes disappearing into vibrant blue skies at Anza-Borrego State Park in California. The single “Awaken,” released by Black Hole Recordings & Ultra Records USA, and video will premiere worldwide on Jan. 31, 2011. The tight underground remix package will include Inpetto, Thomas Gold, Ronski Speed, Coco Channel, Ron Reeser, and Dan Saenz.

“Awaken” follows JES’ recent hit singles “Imagination,” “Lovesong” and “Closer.” “Lovesong,” rapidly grabbed mainstream success with the #1 spot on Clear Channel’s iHeart Radio NEW Discover and Uncover Hit Chart for 15 weeks straight and the ‘rocktronica’ styled video was featured on MTV’s Logo NewNowNext Poplab in May. JES is also being recognized for her artistry in the music industry with her participation, including lyrics and vocals, on BT’s album, These Hopeful Machines. After having my very first exclusive interview with Jes, also known as Jes Brieden (real name), or else “the voice of Tiesto” back in May this year, few weeks ago I have been given another chance to speak to her in relation to her latest world tour advertising her latest album “High Glow.” During this exclusive interview, Jes spoke about her last countries she visited recently, as well as one of the most funny and intresting stories while touring the album. She also told me about her latest singles being released such as “Closer” and “Awaken” which is going to be a video added to it as well. She also managed to spread the word about some future projects ahead, that means 2011 is going to be a lot busier than 2010 for sure. On top of all those amazing details about her musical life she also managed to say that Rocktronica, it was, is it and always will be Rocktronica for a while.

Jim Jacobsen pares down “Closer” to an introspective, minimal sound with soul-tingling touches of dub and Twisted Disko takes a sassy midnight trip through “Closer” morphing vocals and melody into a sonic Picasso. Josh Harris’ lush remix is a harmonic summer sunset laced with danceable builds & breaks. Newcomers, Marc Lime & K Bastian’s synthy affair evokes a swanky eighties dance floor with its fierce melody. Loverush UK!’s production and JES’ vocals combine in a rare and passionate embrace that you don’t ever want to end, while Kris O’Neil’s remix is the deepest and bassists of the bunch with flashy drums and huge vocal drops.

The Queen of Rocktronica, JES Joins the Fight for Equality with the NOH8 Campaign
JES is proud to announce her participation in the global NOH8 Campaign. JES joins a distinguished list of celebrities and dignitaries who have posed for the iconic photo to raise awareness for equality. The NOH8 Campaign was created in protest of Proposition 8, California’s anti same-sex marriage law of 2008. The portraits, by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and co-founder Jeff Parshley, feature celebrities with duct tape over their mouth and the letters NOH8 written across their cheek, which illustrates their voices being silenced by Prop 8.
“I am very excited to be part of the NOH8 campaign. Equality is what brings us together as a nation, makes us stronger and will propel us into harmony,” says Jes. “I’m proud to be one of the many faces that aid this cause.”
Nearly two years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has grown to over 4,500 faces and continues to grow at an exponential rate. The campaign began with portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and many more.

In all my years of listening to music, I have purchased many a CD or album specifically for only one or two songs. “Thank you, Jes,” for compiling so many great tracks on your albums that allow us to listen to these perfectly mastered compilations without interruption! Metallica, Pearl Jam, Sade, Björk, U2, The Police, Sheryl Crow, The Cure, Prince, Tiësto, David Guetta, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, and Michael Jackson are just a few artists that come to mind, who no doubt, have the skill to do the same.
