International Singer and Songwriter JES has been training with APLA to run the
Honolulu Marathon this December 12th.
JES has joined in a fundraising effort for the LA based charity APLA (Aids Project
Los Angeles). Nearly 1.2 million Americans are now living with HIV, and 56,000 more
will be infected this year! These aren’t just numbers; this is impacting real
people and their families. For 25 years, AIDS Project Los Angeles has been
providing food, home health care, and other basic needs to thousands of people whose
lives are affected by HIV/AIDS. Many of these people are living in poverty and have
few places to turn.
APLA is also part of a fantastic Marathon training program, organizing others to
get involved and “Run Inspired”
Please help support JES and this very important cause to raise money for AIDS and
the many in need by making a donation of any amount. No matter how small, it all
helps in fighting this disease that has affected so many lives. We are so close to a
cure and we are such a force together!!

JES is an artist who fully inhabits her music, building on the passion of all her previous works that stir deep emotions. As each song soars, she creates a palpable connection with her audience, whether it’s between the ears on an iPod, acoustically in a small venue, or by tens of thousands in an arena. Her newest single, “Closer,” from HIGH GLOW pulls from the pop genre with the roots of the song deep in Rocktronica.
“Closer” is a journey into an unforgettable sonic photograph – fusing pop, futuristic electro-dance rhythms and riffs with JES’ uniquely touching vocal performance. The new single brings all fans one-step “Closer” together as the song features a universal allure. The new single will be available worldwide including online at iTunes, Amazon.com, UltraRecords.com, BlackHolerecordings.com, and select retail outlets worldwide.
The brand new track exhibits strong mainstream crossover appeal and has already created a swarm of remixes. “Closer” features a stellar supporting lineup with many of the hottest remix talent policing the beats. Bimbo Jones takes the floor on a dreamy electro-house journey to the heart of JES’ ethereal vocals, as the Coco Channel’s Klub Edit grooves its way through “Closer” with plenty of breathy JES vocal treatment.
Jim Jacobsen pares down “Closer” to an introspective, minimal sound with soul-tingling touches of dub and Twisted Disko takes a sassy midnight trip through “Closer” morphing vocals and melody into a sonic Picasso. Josh Harris’ lush remix is a harmonic summer sunset laced with danceable builds & breaks. Newcomers, Marc Lime & K Bastian’s synthy affair evokes a swanky eighties dance floor with its fierce melody. Loverush UK!’s production and JES’ vocals combine in a rare and passionate embrace that you don’t ever want to end, while Kris O’Neil’s remix is the deepest and bassists of the bunch with flashy drums and huge vocal drops.
JES’ video for “Closer” is rich with all the vibrancy that’s expected of JES. From her structured outfits to her colorful makeup and signature crystal-like eyepiece, everything about her here is extravagant. At the same time, none of this takes away from what is a killer performance video. The clip starts off with JES and her backup dancers holding long rods of light that are used to illuminate the tight choreography that ensues throughout the video. “Closer” offers a great visual of lighting, mirror and camera tricks as you see JES in different perspectives. In one frame, you even see JES at her most intimate where her makeup is bare and her hair is let down. Her presence demands attention like no other, and amidst all of the dancing and different lighting, you’ll feel like you’re in a club yourself alongside by JES. Produced by Katheryne KTEE Thomas and directed by Ian Lyman and JES, this video’s message is as deep and touching as JES’ voice itself.
When Richard Durand accepted the role as the new helmsman for the ISOS mix series it almost was an inevitability that he would turn to JES to help him craft the perfect exclusive track. The resulting stellar collaboration entitled N.Y.C has already stamped its mark on dance floors across the globe, featuring JES’ trademark soaring vocals and crisp techno influenced production.
JES (a native New Yorker) said ” I was thrilled to have the opportunity to write a song that captures the the dark and edgy underworld of my hometown. New York is like a part of my soul, you can takethe girl out of N.Y.C but you can’t take N.Y.C out of the girl.”
JES is no stranger to ISOS fans having featured on no less than five past releases of the hugely popular mix compilation with hits like High Glow (Taxigirl), Like A Waterfall, People Will Go (Steve Forte Rio Remix), Blossom and Imagination (Tiesto Remix).

JES is proud to announce her participation in the global NOH8 Campaign. JES joins a distinguished list of celebrities and dignitaries who have posed for the iconic photo to raise awareness for equality. The NOH8 Campaign was created in protest of Proposition 8, California’s anti same-sex marriage law of 2008. The portraits, by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and co-founder Jeff Parshley, feature celebrities with duct tape over their mouth and the letters NOH8 written across their cheek, which illustrates their voices being silenced by Prop 8.
“I am very excited to be part of the NOH8 campaign. Equality is what brings us together as a nation, makes us stronger and will propel us into harmony,” says Jes. “I’m proud to be one of the many faces that aid this cause.”
Nearly two years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has grown to over 4,500 faces and continues to grow at an exponential rate. The campaign began with portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and many more.

In all my years of listening to music, I have purchased many a CD or album specifically for only one or two songs. “Thank you, Jes,” for compiling so many great tracks on your albums that allow us to listen to these perfectly mastered compilations without interruption! Metallica, Pearl Jam, Sade, Björk, U2, The Police, Sheryl Crow, The Cure, Prince, Tiësto, David Guetta, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, and Michael Jackson are just a few artists that come to mind, who no doubt, have the skill to do the same.
